Documenting your fitness journey is more than keeping a journal to feel good about. It’s required to keep a record and from time to time course correct. It may work as a guide to plan ahead, it may also be a good way to check what’s not working. Documenting your fitness journey, however, will be most essential to keep you motivated, and may be helpful to motivate others too. Let’s expand on this a bit more:

  1. Have A Plan

If you are really taking your fitness seriously and working towards it, a plan of action is must. You need to be consistent and draw an outline of things you’d do to achieve your short and long term goals. You need to consider your strengths and weaknesses, a schedule and so much more to put together the plan. Making plans in thin air never works, documentation always does as it puts things in perspective.

  1. Hold Yourself Accountable

Second to planning is executing and recording your progress comes in handy. The most crucial part of tracking your fitness routine is holding yourself accountable. As you document your fitness journey – noting your small wins you add to the motivation, when you record your falls, you can reflect on and make better judgements.

  1. Get best support

When you start tracking your fitness journey, you will start to see the graph in a more analytical way. It will help you check what is working for you and what is not. For instance, if you’ve enrolled for a gym membership, you will be able to track your progress and better communicate your needs with your personal trainer, or others at the gym for better support.

  1. Proof of evolving

While fitness is something you feel and also is visible outwardly, tracking and documenting your progress will help in setting goals and checking on milestones. You will be able to set benchmarks. Record your scores, see the progression of your resistance, capacity. You can truly reflect on how fit you’ve become in what time. This will be helpful to measure your success and enjoy the glory of your hard work

  1. Course Correct

If things haven’t been resulting in what you hoped for, a documentation will help go back and point to what went wrong. You have the notes handy to figure out. Compare and contrast what hasn’t worked and this will help in a more informed decision. One plan doesn’t work for all, your personal fitness journey notes will help in setting up a better customized plan.

It’s a beautiful journey you’re on. Giving time and thought to your fitness is an ode to your body. Documenting it well will make the journey a little more worthwhile.
